Buddhistdoor International (BDI)

Founded in 1995 in Vancouver and based in Hong Kong since 2006, BDI is a multimedia platform providing English-language content on Buddhist teachings, arts, and culture. We accomplish this through features, commentary, and news on the BDI website, as well as publications and other channels.

We offer diverse editorial content, featuring topics like Buddhist spirituality, philosophy, and psychology, and engaged Buddhism in society, Buddhist art, meditation, personal development, and more.

BDI is grounded in tradition but embraces a progressive approach to modern problems in Buddhism and society. We promote an egalitarian vision of Buddhism where everyone, without distinction of race, nationality, gender, or social origin, can share equally in the tradition’s spiritual riches.

Centre of Buddhist Studies, The University of Hong Kong

In line with this trend, the Centre of Buddhist Studies of The University of Hong Kong was established in September 2000 to promote the study of and research into all aspects of Buddhism and its relevance to the world of today. The Centre is a self-funded academic centre relying on generous donations and support from benefactors. It is the first of its kind to be set up in Hong Kong.

Since 2002, the Centre has been offering a broad range of Buddhist studies at postgraduate research (MPhil/PhD), Master and undergraduate levels. The degrees are awarded through the Faculty of Arts.
